LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Congresswoman Dina Titus and Congressman Steven Horsford attended a roundtable discussion focused on climate and drought issues facing Nevadans. Advocates joined the representatives to express concerns about extreme temperatures and drought conditions in southern Nevada.

“Extreme heat and drought have deeply impacted the West, and have put many workers and natural resources at risk,” said Rep. Titus. “As a senior Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I am continuing to work on equitable solutions for mitigating this threat to our most vulnerable communities and ensuring the long-term viability of the Colorado River Basin.”

“In addition to the $1.4 billion of federal investment, we’re seeing tens of millions of dollars of investment in our community, from solar, geothermal, hydrogen, these areas that we never would have had the opportunity but for investments from the Inflation Reduction Act,” said Rep. Horsford. “In Nevada alone, we now have 15,938 good-paying clean energy jobs … And what we have to do now is to make sure our communities benefit from these investments.”
